Has it really been 5 months since I returned to New York?
Times flies when life is throwing you tons of unexpected surprises!
~designing & decorating a new apartment that I adore (as we all know, finding good housing is nothing short of a miracle in Manhattan)
~enjoying/exploring my neighborhood (I LOVE HARLEM!!)
~developing yet another outlet for creative expression (BIG NEWS TO COME SOON!)
The biggest lesson that my path seems to keep revolving around?
DO THE WORK & HAVE FAITH.
All these amazing new experiences have included some major obstacles. Taking control, feeling active, putting in the work… this was the easier part. Trusting the work, having faith in my efforts, letting go of things I cannot control… now that has been the real challenge. real mobile roulette
Can’t wait to see what challenges & blessings the next 5 months hold in store!

The subject keeps coming up lately ~ super talented, hard-working artists are not being fairly compensated for their art. In the last week, I’ve heard it from several angles: a heartfelt artistic director wishing with all his might that their theatre company had budget to increase pay for actors; a boutique gallery owner constantly trying to balance the funding it requires to run her business supporting art; both a photographer and a composer frustrated that people freely share their product while they are forced to work another job just to pay the bills.
Yet, each of these artists has had a profound impact on hundreds, if not thousands of people. How can we shift our thinking so that their impact weighs more heavily & becomes the ultimate measure of their worth? How can THAT become the way we judge success? Not that I’m suggesting anyone’s landlord will ever accept “I positively impacted 2000 lives this month” instead of $2000. Obviously that would be AMAZING, but in the mean time, let’s do our part to put more emphasis on an individual’s positive impact as a defining factor. That’s the world I wanna live in!
Had such a blast getting to know & work with this fierce lady over the past couple weeks!
Her concert was incredible, & I’m ecstatic to have been a part of it!

I recently took a class with the incredible Liz Asti, & it was amazing!! It’s basically a combination of music theory & appreciation ~ I highly recommend it. Not only do I have a brand new understanding of music in general, but it reminded me how much I LOVE learning! This sounds super geeky. And I’m fine with that. Cuz it was so freakin fun!
I grew up singing, playing piano & flute, & generally operating “by ear.” But this class elevated my ability to understand & appreciate the more technical aspects of music structure. If you’re a singer/musician of any kind (or even if you’re not), take this class! Check it out HERE, y’all!

This week, I had the great pleasure of seeing Alanis Morissette perform live, & she was so incredible! Now this is an artist I’ve been a fan of since middle school, so there’s obviously a great deal of nostalgia at work here. But there are 3 specific qualities I realized that I LOVE about her during the concert:
1 ~ Unique. This woman has a sound all her own, & she isn’t trying to be anyone else. In a cookie-cutter world of popular music, a distinctive voice is refreshing as hell!
2 ~ Open. She was so receptive to the room, & she felt super connected to all the other musicians on the stage.
3 ~ Forgiving. When she sat down for a ballad, a cappella-style, very exposed to the sold-out crowd, she flubbed a lyric. She didn’t seem to judge her mistake, as I find myself (& others) prone to doing. She lightly said “Oops,” smiled & laughed for a moment w/ the audience, then started the line over. That gentle response to her tiny imperfection endeared her to me even more.
May we always be ourselves, be open to others, & forgive joyfully.
Thank you to David Ackert, who spoke to the core truth & heart of my chosen life path:
“Actors are some of the most driven, courageous people on the face of the earth. They deal with more day-to-day rejection in one year than most people do in a lifetime. Every day, actors face the financial challenge of living a freelance lifestyle, the disrespect of people who think they should get real jobs, and their own fear that they’ll never work again. Every day, they have to ignore the possibility that the vision they have dedicated their lives to is a pipe dream. With every role, they stretch themselves, emotionally and physically, risking criticism and judgment. With every passing year, many of them watch as the other people their age achieve the predictable milestones of normal life – the car, the family, the house, the nest egg. Why? Because actors are willing to give their entire lives to a moment – to that line, that laugh, that gesture, or that interpretation that will stir the audience’s soul. Actors are beings who have tasted life’s nectar in that crystal moment when they poured out their creative spirit and touched another’s heart. In that instant, they were as close to magic, God, and perfection as anyone could ever be. And in their own hearts, they know that to dedicate oneself to that moment is worth a thousand lifetimes. ” what is the best online casino site uk
