Honeymooning

Well it’s been a nice couple of weeks since Southern Bitch.
Still reeling from the amazing adventure of it all!
Video clips will be up very soon, so those who couldn’t make it will get a glimpse of what ya missed!

For the people that contributed to the show, I’m truly grateful!
The support and love coming from that audience was palpable.
I have a sneaking suspicion we haven’t seen the last of that production! play slots for real money ipad

The Duplex was really the perfect host ~
Thx to Thomas & the whole crew for taking care of us.
I can’t recommend them highly enough, absolutely top notch.

time

Been thinkin a lot lately about how quickly time passes. The first of every month I say to myself, “Where did the last 4 weeks go?” And really, where does it all disappear to?!

A guy that I grew up with passed away last week. This was not someone that I was ever particularly close to, but someone I’d known through church & school for as long as I can remember. Some folks aren’t your best friends, but you just kinda know they’re out there, living their lives. And it’s comforting in a way. Doesn’t seem real that someone could just be gone in the blink of an eye.

It also struck me that we’re the same age. I mean, it feels like I’m just getting started!
I have so much I wanna do. So many goals to accomplish. So much left to give!

So I’m making a conscious effort to greet each day with gratitude.
…to keep the destinations in sight but to live in each little journey.

New Moon on Monday

Woke up w/ a feverish excitement. Southern Bitch is 2 WEEKS FROM TODAY!! I’m gonna have some serious postpartum depression after I give birth to this show. Really ecstatic to share my stories & sing through this journey w/ y’all!

Then my shuffle chose the most perfect Duran Duran song for a Monday morning abuzz with activity & possibility. The universe is definitely throwing some curve balls my way right now, which at first glance was kinda defeating. But then I reset my mindset a bit, & decided to “Light my torch & wave it for the New Moon on Monday.”

Sometimes all ya need is to rethink your approach.
It’s not a problem, it’s just a challenge! (thx, Jason Robert Brown, for that lyric)
After all, perception is reality!

Ready.Set.Go!

Holy cow. It feels like April just started, but somehow it’s almost May ~ time really flies when you’re workin your tail off! Feels so good to have accomplished some goals, but I’m glad there’s still time to focus on the rest of my list. Of course, Southern Bitch is really all I can think about!!

We’re still tweaking things, but I’m just so excited for the show May 14th! The stories and songs are so dear to me, & I can’t wait to share ’em. Keep in mind, this is a ONE NIGHT ONLY event. So if you plan on comin, reserve your tickets soon.  Looks like it’ll be a packed house!

Magical Mystery Tour

The Little Mer-hoarder
Just got back from a couple of amazing days with family @ Disneyworld! So fun. It was super interesting to experience the Magic Kingdom from both my adult perspective as well as through the eyes of my nephew & nieces.

And the people-watching! Incredible. Possibly the best place for character study I’ve ever experienced. I saw the extreme heat & crowds bring out some very instinctual behavior. Tantrums from kids & grownups alike.

But mostly I just felt pure enjoyment spending time with loved ones. Here’s a pic of some of us meeting the Little Mer-Hoarder herself ~ She looks so unassumingly normal. You just never know!

Be Bold

My mother will not be enthused when she sees the title of my show.
(See poster below!)
She’s pleased as punch with my Southern side, just not so much the other.
And she may not be the only person surprised by some of my choices.
But as the saying goes, “Well-behaved women seldom make history.”

And it’s not that I’m hell-bent on misbehaving.
It’s just making an impression has always seemed way more appealing.

“Be bold, & mighty forces will come to your aid.” – Goethe

Be there or be square!

Seriously excited, y’all! I’ve been working on this show for a while, & it’s bound to be a memorable evening! play video slot games

The show is based on the dual nature in all of us. We possess both the yin & the yang, and I’m no exception. A Southern Belle & sometimes a bit of a bitch, there’s never a dull moment! slots inferno casino download

Turn. Turn. Turn.

Death is weird. I was tempted to call it a necessary evil, but I don’t think it’s evil. Maybe just necessary. Definitely in keeping with my belief that it’s all cyclical.

My grandmother “Boots” will be missed and remembered.
I don’t quote the Bible all that often, but this brought me comfort today.
And of course, it speaks to the dual nature of life, which pleases me…

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
a time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
a time to get, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to cast away.

Tipping.

I hate to even bring this up, because I hope to not rely on a serving job to pay my bills for much longer. But I’ve just gotta put this out into the universe. I will rant only this one time, then you’ll never have to read about it again. top 5 online casinos deposit bonus

If you are dining out in America, you need to tip your server accordingly. slot bonus

I know, spring is a weird time for money. You survive the holidays, then business is slow in January, then February opens tax season, then March brings the need to save for vacations. Yeah I get all that. But guess what, I DON’T CARE! You still need to pay people for the service they provide!

And contrary to what Oprah or Rachael Ray may have taught you, 10-15% is NOT adequate for good service. That may have been your policy in the 1980’s, but it cannot be anymore! You’ve heard of inflation? Well it affects everything, including the living costs of those servers you are shorting!

Basically, if I don’t have the funds to pay them, then I don’t hire someone to paint my house, or cut my hair, or walk my dog. By the same token, if you can’t (or simply don’t want to) afford the cost of service, please just eat at home.

Duality

So I’m kinda obsessed with the concept of duality. For years. Can’t stop thinking about it! The “yin & yang,” which Wikipedia defines as “how polar opposites or seemingly contrary forces are interconnected and interdependent in the natural world, and how they give rise to each other in turn.” I’m so obsessed, in fact, that it’s the basis of the cabaret-style show I’m developing.

And it’s everywhere, y’all! Not only in religion. Not just the obvious image of the dueling shoulders, angel vs devil. The City itself is a perfect example. NYC has so much good & so much bad. She is at once fiercely competitive yet full of opportunity.  She’s both harsh & nurturing. Life here is like spicy food: an exquisite torture. And like every other case of duality, I would have it no other way.
